These might arise from the inquiry or review of action. If so, they must be recorded in concrete terms e.g. what we have decided, who is going to be involved and when etc. The group should then be able to carry them out. There is a danger of making abstract recordings of the resolutions. Nobody will know what to do! And the group becomes lifeless and highly theoretical. Notice that truly liberating action involves the participation of the liberated and the liberator and that the action has long lasting effects on the liberated and helps to transform life from that of dependency to that of an independent self-reliant man (master of his own life).
In the movement, this is our vocation so before we choose an action we should ask ourselves whether it is simply a charity action catering for a temporary need. So not all action is action!
The World Council
The world council is held every four years. the most recent one was held in Jordan in 2024. the world council is a time of deep reflection, planning and sharing of experiences.
The International YCS Day (IYCS Day)
It was proposed at the 1982 World Council in Montreal, it is meant to foster a deeper sense of belonging to the movement and develop a certain publicity. It is on 13 November, commemorating the birthday of our founder.
National Council
The National Council in Zimbabwe is held annually. It is an occasion whereby all the groups in the country delegate two or more militants to attend the meeting. It is a time to reflect and review our successes, failures, and make future plans. A new National Team is elected at every second national council.
Pan-African Council
It is held after every two years. It is an occasion where all African movements come together and make an effort of a united understanding of Africa’s problems such as refugees, diseases, education etc. A united understanding makes us develop our bases, strengthened by enriched experiences, to seek effective solutions.
